Q: After I had sex recently there was blood in my condom — what could have been the cause; is it the condom or something else?
A: Blood in the condom could happen for many reasons. If your penis recently experienced trauma (perhaps as a result of bike riding, horseback riding, or some other athletic activity) it could cause blood to appear in your ejaculate. If this is the case, the blood will clear up on its own and is not a cause for concern. However, it could also be a sign of a polyp in the bladder, which is a cause for concern and requires a visit to your doctor for testing. If you have blood in your urine, this could also signal a bladder polyp. Talk to your doctor as soon as possible and inform him of any other symptoms you might be having.
